GATE Architecture Question

GATE 2015
A rectangular beam section of size 300 mm (width) X 500 mm (depth) is loaded with a shear force of 600 kN. The maximum shear stress on the section in N/mm2 is ………………
Answer: 6
The Maximum Shear Stress occurs at the Neutral Axis is 3F/2bd where F=force and b=breadth, d=depth.
So we get Max Shear Stress = (3 x 600 x1000)/(2x 300x 500) = 6 N/mm2

(A) 0.85 hectare
(B) 6.0 hectare
